It was built around 1905, during a period when the government expanded postal and telegraph services to smaller towns, often using designs from the Government Buildings Agency, influenced by architects such as C.H. Peters.

The building is constructed in a sober Neo-Renaissance style, featuring red brick, a symmetrical layout, and simple decorative elements around windows and doors. It conveys solidity and functionality, in keeping with its purpose. In many cases, a residence for the postmaster was also included, combining work and living within one building.

Hobbyists can paint and weather the building entirely to their own taste.
