Learn how to create your own realistic conifer trees for your model railway layout, diorama or scale modelling project in this hands-on workshop. This workshop is suitable for both beginners and experienced modellers looking to develop their skills further. You will gain practical experience using the RTS Greenkeeper and learn step by step how to create conifer trees that are almost indistinguishable from real ones.

Conifer Tree Making Workshop – Course Content

During this workshop, we will cover the following topics:

• Introduction to different types of conifer trees and their characteristic shapes.
• Overview of the materials and tools used to create realistic conifer trees.
• Building and shaping a realistic trunk and branch structure using the conifer tree kit from Unique Scenery Products.
• Creating a natural-looking texture and colour on the tree trunk.
• Developing realistic branching patterns and tree shapes.
• Applying fine needle foliage and various types of scenic scatter materials.
• Using adhesives, colour pigments and other finishing materials.
• Techniques for creating natural colour variations and adding depth.

What Will You Learn During the Workshop?

During the practical session, you will create your own conifer trees. You will learn how to build a realistic tree step by step using different materials and techniques.
Special attention will be given to achieving the correct proportions, shaping the branches, applying needle foliage and creating a natural appearance.
You will also receive practical tips on making different tree shapes and applying these techniques to your own model railway layout or diorama.
By the end of the workshop, you will have gained the knowledge and skills needed to create realistic conifer trees independently.
