ESU LokSound 5 micro DCC - LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct "Leerdecoder", Retail (ESU58721)

The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct was specifically developed for installation in N scale vehicles from the Atlas and Intermountain brands: it can be directly inserted as a replacement for the factory-installed analog board. However, the decoder can also be used at your discretion for similar models from other manufacturers.

The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct, with its dimensions of 66.0mm x 8.2mm, is a pure DCC decoder and is delivered without a speaker.

Operating Modes

The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct is a “pure” DCC decoder. 14 to 128 speed steps are standard, as well as 2- and 4-digit addresses. Up to 32 functions can be activated. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoder registers fully automatically with a compatible digital command station.

It supports all DCC programming modes, and thanks to RailCom®, CV values can be read on the main track using suitable command stations. For command stations that can only program CVs from 1-255, auxiliary registers are available.

The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct decoder recognizes Märklin® braking sections as well as ZIMO® HLU / ZACK commands or the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC brake modules or direct current is also possible. Furthermore, it stops when encountering a Selectrix® brake diode. An ABC shuttle train automation feature enables automatic shuttle operation between two stations. The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct can also be used on analog DC layouts.

The decoder switches between operating modes fully automatically "on-the-fly." Usually, no adjustments are necessary.

Sound

The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct decoder can play up to 12 sound channels simultaneously. Each channel has a resolution of up to 16-bit / 31,250 kHz, providing HiFi-quality sound for your layout. The difference from the original is practically inaudible. A Class-D audio amplifier with up to 3W output power drives the speakers, which can have an impedance between 4 Ohms and 32 Ohms. A 128 Mbit sound memory ensures sufficient capacity.

All individual sounds can be adjusted in volume. The highly flexible sound engine, without a rigid playback sequence, allows for an accurate simulation of all conceivable railway vehicles.

Functions

The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct features 10 directly soldered LEDs. Two of them are intended for the front and rear headlights, while two others are connected to the AUX3 and AUX4 outputs, for example, to control number boards. Six additional LEDs on the underside are intended for ditch lights but can also be used for other lighting purposes if desired. All essential lighting functions are available. The brightness of each output can be adjusted separately.

Motor Control

The motor control of the LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct features a variable PWM clock frequency adjustable from 10 kHz to 50 kHz, ensuring ultra-quiet operation, especially for coreless motors—eliminating the typical “buzzing” sound of the past. The load control can be fine-tuned with up to 10 CVs, even for challenging cases. The unique "Autotune" function enables automatic calibration of the decoder to the motor. The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct decoder provides up to 0.75A motor current.

Protection

Of course, all outputs are protected against overloading. We want you to enjoy your decoder for as long as possible.
