Description / ESU LokPilot 5 micro DCC/MM/SX/M4, Next18, Spurweite N, TT - - Z / N / TT (ESU59818)
The LokPilot 5 micro is ESU’s smallest digital decoder to date. Thanks to the use of subminiature components, 8-layer PCBs, and state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, its dimensions of only 8.0 mm x 7.0 mm with a thickness of just 2.4 mm (2.9 mm at the capacitor) make it small enough to fit even into very small locomotives in scales Z, N, or TT. Nevertheless, compared to the larger versions, no compromises were made in terms of functionality and robustness.
LokPilot 5 micro decoders are available with all common interfaces. The variants with Next18 or PluX16 interface are slightly larger with a footprint of 13.0 mm x 9.2 mm, but additionally support the mfx®-compatible M4 protocol.
Operating modes
The LokPilot 5 micro is a true multi-protocol decoder. It supports the DCC format as well as Motorola®, Selectrix®, and M4. In DCC, 14 to 128 speed steps are just as standard as 2- and 4-digit addresses and up to 32 functions. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoders automatically register with a suitable digital command station.
It supports all DCC programming modes, and thanks to RailCom®, CV values can be read on the main track with compatible command stations. For command stations that can only program CVs from 1–255, auxiliary registers are available.
Motorola® users benefit from up to 28 speed steps with 255 addresses. Three additional Motorola® addresses allow the control of 16 functions. A built-in programming mode even enables reprogramming with the classic Control Unit 6021.
The Next18 and PluX16 variants also allow automatic registration with mfx®-compatible command stations thanks to the M4 protocol. All 32 available function keys can be used in this case.
The LokPilot 5 micro recognizes Märklin® braking sections as well as ZIMO® HLU/ZACK commands or the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC brake modules or DC voltage is also possible. In addition, it also stops at a Selectrix® brake diode. An ABC shuttle train function enables automatic shuttle service between two stations.
The LokPilot 5 micro can be used on analog DC layouts. The variants with Next18 or PluX16 can additionally be used on analog AC layouts. The maximum speed can be adjusted separately.
The decoder switches fully automatically “on-the-fly” between operating modes. In most cases, no manual configuration is required.
