LokPilot 5 micro – The Smallest Digital Decoder from ESU
The LokPilot 5 micro is the smallest digital decoder ever produced by ESU. Thanks to the use of subminiature components, 8-layer circuit boards, and state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, it measures just 8.0 mm x 7.0 mm with a thickness of only 2.4 mm (at the capacitor: 2.9 mm), making it small enough to fit into even the tiniest locomotives of Z, N, or TT scales. Despite its small size, it does not compromise on functionality or durability compared to larger versions.

LokPilot 5 micro decoders are available with all common interfaces. The Next18 and PluX16 versions have a slightly larger footprint of 13.0 mm x 9.2 mm, but in return, they also support the mfx®-compatible M4 protocol.

Operating Modes
The LokPilot 5 micro is a true multi-protocol decoder. It supports DCC, Motorola®, Selectrix®, and M4. In DCC mode, it offers 14 to 128 speed steps, 2- and 4-digit addresses, and up to 32 functions. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoder automatically registers with a compatible digital command station.

It supports all DCC programming modes, and thanks to RailCom®, CV values can be read on the main track with compatible control stations. For systems that can only program CVs from 1 to 255, auxiliary registers are available.

Motorola® users benefit from up to 28 speed steps with 255 addresses. Three additional Motorola® addresses allow the activation of 16 functions. An integrated programming mode even allows reprogramming with the classic Control Unit 6021.

The Next18 and PluX16 versions also support automatic registration with mfx®-compatible command stations thanks to the M4 protocol, making all 32 function keys available.

The LokPilot 5 micro decoder recognizes Märklin® braking sections, as well as ZIMO® HLU/ZACK commands and the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC braking modules or DC voltage is also possible. Additionally, it stops at a Selectrix® braking diode. The ABC shuttle train automation allows automatic shuttling between two stations.

The LokPilot 5 micro can be used on analog DC layouts, while the Next18 and PluX16 versions can also operate on analog AC layouts. The maximum speed can be set separately in analog mode.

The decoder automatically switches between operating modes "on-the-fly", usually without requiring any configuration.

Functions
We understand that you want your locomotives to be as realistic as possible. That’s why we have equipped the LokPilot 5 micro with an impressive number of function outputs.

6-pin or 8-pin wired versions: 4 amplified function outputs (each 180mA) and two logic-level outputs for servos or Susi.
Next18 or PluX16 versions: 6 amplified function outputs and two logic-level outputs.
All important lighting functions are included, and the brightness of each output can be adjusted individually.
The decoder also supports automatic coupling and uncoupling for ROCO®, Krois®, and Telex® couplers.
Motor Control
The motor control of the LokPilot 5 micro has been completely redesigned. A variable PWM frequency from 10 kHz to 50 kHz ensures extremely silent operation, especially with coreless motors – the typical "buzzing" noise is now a thing of the past.

The load control can now be fine-tuned with up to 10 CVs, even for complex motor setups. The unique "Autotune" function allows the decoder to automatically calibrate to the motor.

The LokPilot 5 micro provides up to 0.75A motor current, delivering sufficient power for its intended applications.

Operational Reliability
An optional PowerPack can be connected to the LokPilot 5 micro to bridge dirty track sections, ensuring uninterrupted operation.

Protection
Of course, both the motor output and function outputs are protected against overload. We want you to enjoy your decoder for as long as possible.
