LokPilot 5 – The Versatile Decoder for H0 and 0 Gauge

The LokPilot 5 is the most important model within the LokPilot family and is suitable for almost all applications in locomotives of H0 and 0 gauge.

LokPilot 5 decoders are available with all common interfaces.

Operating Modes

The LokPilot 5 is a true multi-protocol decoder. It supports the data formats DCC, Motorola®, Selectrix®, and M4. In DCC mode, it offers 14 to 128 speed steps, 2- and 4-digit addresses, and up to 32 functions. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoder registers automatically with a compatible digital command station.

It supports all DCC programming modes, and thanks to RailCom®, CV values can be read directly on the main track with compatible control stations. For control stations that can only program CVs from 1-255, auxiliary registers are available.

Motorola® users benefit from up to 28 speed steps at 255 addresses. Three additional Motorola® addresses allow the activation of 16 functions. A built-in programming mode even enables reprogramming with the classic Control Unit 6021.

The M4 protocol enables automatic registration with mfx®-compatible command stations. All 32 possible function keys are supported.

The LokPilot 5 decoder recognizes Märklin® braking sections, ZIMO® HLU/ZACK commands, and the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC braking modules or DC voltage is also possible. Additionally, it also stops at a Selectrix® brake diode. An ABC shuttle train automation enables automatic commuting between two stations.

The LokPilot 5 can be used on both analog DC and AC layouts.

The decoder automatically switches between operating modes "on-the-fly," usually without the need for manual configuration.

Functions

We understand that you want your locomotives to operate as realistically as possible. That is why we have equipped the LokPilot 5 with extensive function capabilities. Depending on the interface version, each LokPilot 5 decoder has at least 10 amplified function outputs, each with 250 mA output current. The versions with a PluX22 or 21MTC interface also feature 4 additional outputs for controlling servos or logic-level outputs.

All essential lighting functions are included, and the brightness of each output can be individually adjusted. The decoder supports automatic coupling and uncoupling for ROCO®, Krois®, and Telex® couplings.

Motor Control

The motor control of the LokPilot 5 has been significantly improved. A variably adjustable PWM clock frequency of 10 kHz to 50 kHz ensures ultra-quiet operation, especially for coreless motors – the typical "humming" is a thing of the past. Load control can now be adjusted with up to 10 CVs, even for challenging cases.

The unique "Autotune" function allows the decoder to automatically calibrate itself to the motor. The LokPilot 5 delivers up to 1.5 A motor current, providing sufficient power even for older motors.

Operational Reliability

The LokPilot 5 can optionally be connected to a PowerPack to bridge dirty track sections.
