LokPilot 5 – The Most Important Decoder in the LokPilot Family
The LokPilot 5 is the most important model in the LokPilot family and is suitable for almost all applications in locomotives of H0 and 0 gauge.
LokPilot 5 decoders are available with all common interfaces.
Operating Modes
The LokPilot 5 is a true multi-protocol decoder. It supports the DCC, Motorola®, Selectrix®, and M4 formats. In DCC mode, 14 to 128 speed steps are standard, as well as 2- and 4-digit addresses and up to 32 functions. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoder registers automatically with a compatible digital control unit.
It supports all DCC programming modes, and thanks to RailCom®, CV values can be read directly on the main track with compatible control units. For systems that can only program CVs from 1-255, auxiliary registers are available.
Motorola® users benefit from up to 28 speed steps and 255 addresses. Three additional Motorola® addresses allow the activation of 16 functions. A built-in programming mode even allows reprogramming with the classic Control Unit 6021.
The M4 protocol enables automatic registration with mfx®-compatible control units. All 32 possible function keys are supported.
The LokPilot 5 decoder recognizes Märklin® braking sections, as well as ZIMO® HLU/ZACK commands and the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC braking modules or DC voltage is also possible. Additionally, it stops at a Selectrix® braking diode. An ABC shuttle train automation allows automatic shuttling between two stations.
The LokPilot 5 decoder can be used on both analog DC and AC railway systems.
The decoder switches automatically on-the-fly between operating modes, usually without requiring any settings.
Functions
We understand that you want your locomotives to be as realistic as possible. That’s why we have packed the LokPilot 5 with functional outputs. Depending on the interface version, each LokPilot 5 decoder features at least 10 amplified function outputs, each with 250mA output current. Versions with a PluX22 or 21MTC interface also include 4 additional outputs for controlling servos or logic-level signals.
All essential lighting functions are available, and the brightness of each output can be adjusted individually. The decoder supports automatic coupling and uncoupling for ROCO®-, Krois®-, and Telex®-couplings.
Motor Control
The motor control of the LokPilot 5 has been fundamentally improved once again. A variable PWM frequency of 10kHz to 50kHz ensures ultra-quiet operation, especially for coreless motors – the typical "humming" is now a thing of the past.
The load control can now be adjusted with up to 10 CVs, even for difficult cases. The unique Autotune function allows the decoder to automatically calibrate itself to the motor. The LokPilot 5 decoder delivers up to 1.5A motor current, providing sufficient power even for older motors.
Operational Reliability
The LokPilot 5 can be optionally equipped with a PowerPack to bridge dirty track sections.
