Operating Modes

The LokPilot 5 is a true multi-protocol decoder. It supports data formats such as DCC, Motorola®, Selectrix®, and M4. In DCC mode, it offers 14 to 128 speed steps, 2- and 4-digit addresses, and up to 32 functions. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoder registers automatically with a compatible digital command station.

It supports all DCC programming modes, and with RailCom®, CV values can be read on the main track using compatible command stations. For systems that can only program CVs from 1-255, auxiliary registers are available.

Motorola® users benefit from up to 28 speed steps with 255 addresses. Three additional Motorola® addresses allow the activation of 16 functions. A built-in programming mode even enables reprogramming using the classic Control Unit 6021.

The M4 protocol allows automatic registration with mfx®-compatible command stations. All 32 available function keys are supported.

The LokPilot 5 decoder recognizes Märklin® braking sections, as well as ZIMO® HLU/ZACK commands and the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC brake modules or DC voltage is also possible. Additionally, it stops at a Selectrix® brake diode. An ABC shuttle train automation feature enables automatic shuttling between two stations.

The LokPilot 5 can be used on both analog DC and AC train layouts.

The decoder switches between operating modes fully automatically on-the-fly, usually without requiring any manual configuration.

Functions

We understand that you want your locomotives to be as realistic as possible. That is why we have equipped the LokPilot 5 with a wide range of function outputs. Depending on the interface variant, each LokPilot 5 decoder features at least 10 amplified function outputs, each with 250 mA output current. Versions with a PluX22 or 21MTC interface also include 4 additional outputs for controlling servos or logic-level outputs.

All essential lighting functions are available, and the brightness of each output can be adjusted individually. The decoder also supports automatic coupling and uncoupling for ROCO®, Krois®, and Telex® couplings.

Motor Control

The motor control of the LokPilot 5 has been significantly improved. A variable PWM frequency, adjustable from 10 kHz to 50 kHz, ensures ultra-quiet operation—especially for coreless motors—eliminating the typical "humming" noise. Load control can now be fine-tuned with up to 10 CVs, even in challenging cases.

The unique Autotune function allows the decoder to automatically calibrate itself to the motor. The LokPilot 5 provides up to 1.5 A motor current, making it powerful enough for even older motors.

Operational Reliability

The LokPilot 5 can optionally be connected to a PowerPack to bridge dirty track sections.

Protection

Of course, all function outputs, as well as the motor output, are protected against overloading. We want you to enjoy your decoder for as long as possible.
