ESU Interior lighting set with decoder - 13 LED - Warm white - 255mm (ESU50718)

With ESU’s digital LED interior lighting, you can retrofit your passenger coaches in N, TT or H0 scale with prototypical, uniform illumination. Two versions are available, depending on the intended application.

The digital interior lighting units are 264 mm long, only 9 mm slim, and each equipped with 13 (!) LEDs. In addition to a version with warm white LEDs (50718), there is also a circuit board with yellow LEDs (50719), ensuring that the light colour always matches your existing coaches.

Features

The digital interior lighting consists of a 74 mm long base section containing a digital decoder and four LEDs, plus eight adjoining sections, each fitted with one LED at 24 mm intervals. These additional sections can be cut off to individually adjust the length to the coach.

In addition, there are two extra detachable sections on both the far left and right sides, each 4.5 mm wide and equipped with an LED to illuminate the entrance areas.

The brightness of the LEDs can be adjusted either via a potentiometer or via software CVs and remains constant regardless of track voltage thanks to the built-in constant voltage supply. A built-in buffer capacitor already bridges short power interruptions as standard.

To completely prevent flickering even with poor current pickup, an optional special, very compact PowerPack supercapacitor (ESU item no. 50710) can be connected directly. This can power the LEDs for several seconds.

The digital interior lighting units are supplied from the factory with a pre-soldered red tail light.

Operating modes

The decoder, based on the LokPilot 5 Basic and adapted to its purpose, supports the DCC and Märklin® Motorola® protocols. It supports 2- and 4-digit addresses and can trigger functions up to F31. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoders automatically register themselves with a compatible digital command station.

All DCC programming modes are supported, and thanks to RailCom®, CV values can be read on the main track with compatible command stations. For command stations that can only program CVs from 1–255, auxiliary registers are available. Alternatively, the decoder can be read on the programming track without an additional load resistor.

The digital interior lighting units can also be used on analogue AC and DC layouts. In both operating modes, the direction of travel is correctly detected and the tail light is switched accordingly.

Functions

The 13 built-in LEDs can be individually controlled in a total of seven groups. The two entrance LEDs can each be switched separately. The tail light can also be switched separately depending on the direction of travel. In addition, there is one amplified output and two outputs for connecting additional LEDs (e.g. for head lighting of control cars or toilet lighting), which can be wired individually.

Various realistic lighting effects such as soft dimming, fluorescent tube effect, defective fluorescent tube, battery lighting and more ensure a highly realistic appearance. ESU V5 Function Mapping allows individual assignment of all LED groups to the desired function keys.
